A daily haiku puzzle that makes you slow down.
Wordle taught us that daily puzzles work when they're brief and satisfying. Line by Line applies that logic to poetry: reconstruct a haiku from a shuffled word bank, paying attention to syllable count and line structure.
The challenge is all about finding the right positions. Words are marked as correct (right spot), wrong-position (right line, wrong placement), or wrong-line (belongs elsewhere). The 5-7-5 syllable pattern provides structure; the poetry provides the puzzle.
Daily puzzles are curated through a lightweight Google Sheets CMS. Players can submit their own haiku for consideration. Stats track streaks and completion rates. The interface is deliberately minimal and low-pressure. Just you and the poem.
How it works:
Next.js 15 with React 19 and TypeScript
Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui for zen-like aesthetics
Position-based validation with syllable tracking
Google Sheets integration as CMS
Date-seeded shuffling for consistent word arrangements
Local storage for game state and statistics
Resend email integration for submissions
Vercel Analytics for engagement tracking
